The best mobile phone deals for August

We have been searching the web to find you the best deals for the top handsets in August. We have come up with that we think will take your fancy. Note that we have not just included nokia handsets here, as we thought we should give a well rounded view of the mobile phone market. So without further ado, let's check out the deals.
1) Nokia 5530 deals - OK it doesn't have all the features of the original 5800 model, but it does come with a very reasonable price tag. 600 minutes and unlimited texts with Vodafone for just over £20.00 per month should not be scoffed at.
2) Nokia N97 deals - If you want the all singing all dancing Nokia, then it has to be the N97, again it has to be the 600 unlimited contract from Vodafone, although you will pay £40.00 per month to grab this very slick handset.
3) Samsung Jet deals - Samsung has done really well with its first Android phone. The navigation is great and you can get this one £21.20 per month on Orange with 400 minutes, a good buy in our opinion.
4) Blackberry Curve 8520 deals - The new Blackberry on the block doesn't look too different from the other Curve models, but it does have better buttons. At £35 per month with £170 automatic cashback, it is a real steal.
5) HTC Hero deals - A truly excellent phone, but with no touch screen, it does hinder the major typers out there. Still it is yours for a mere £25.28 per month (after cashback.
6) Sony W995 deals - The Sony Ericsson W995 is not only a music phone; it takes some pretty great pictures too. Okay, not quite as good as the c905, but it does look nicer. This can be yours for £30.00 per month on an 18 month deal with Orange.
7) Samsung Pixon 12 deals - It's a shame that the Phones 4 U group have an exclusive on this one, as the cheapest you can get it for is £40 per month if you want the phone for free. You do get 900 minutes though, so worth considering if you are a heavy user.
8) LG Crystal deals - we love the intuitive design on this phone and the price tag isn't half bad either. You can pick one of these up for £30.00 per month on O2 and for that yo get 400 minutes and 500 texts, ample for the average user.

Well firstly its network exclusive to O2, and secondly it is phenomenally expensive. We all know it's a great phone and you all know where to get one, so it doesn't need including here. Even before you get the opportunity to marvel at the many high definition features of the E75, you are taken by the sheer sight of it. The phone, even though some people consider it to be a bit on the bulky side, is captivating in its looks and style quotient.
To begin with, Nokia E75 doesn’t have a hint of drabness about it. It comes in three stylish colors: Silver Black, Red and Copper Yellow. The front of the Nokia E75 is covered in the predominant color, but around it, there is a silver metallic color. This metallic shade is highly glossy, which immediately increases its style quotient. Nokia E55 - A Candybar QWERTY

What I like best about the Nokia E55 is that it is a smartphone disguised as a candybar phone. I am looking to upgrade my cellphone this year, and I looked at all the smartphones in the market, but they all seem too...I don't know how to say it...imposing? They look a little formidable, at least to me – all cumbersome and weighty.

I definitely need one for business, now that I am travelling more and don't sit at my desk as much as I used to. I need something small and effective, and the Nokia E55 just fits the bill. It has a full QWERT keypad, with two letters per key – looks like it would be very easy to quickly punch out an email or a message straight from my phone. It also supports Excel and word formats, so I can even compose and edit business communications straight from my phone. I forgot to mention that I can even save everything in PDF format.

The Nokia E55 has in built Maps software with GPS support, which is very handy when I'm in a new place – especially when I'm driving. I can't think of how many times I wish I had a map when I'm on the road and looking for an office, trying to make it in time for a meeting. No matter how much preparation I do, a map on hand is really helpful.

Some of the other options worth mentioning on the official product page is the camera and the predictive engine for the message service that automatically learns new words.

The camera is 2048 x 1536 resolution, with autoexposure and extended depth of field. It also has a red eye reduction. It takes decent video too – at a resolution of 640 x 480, 15fps. It has a built in video editor, video player, has video ringtones, sharing, and streaming too. it also has an audio equalizer, audio recording, streaming, and a music player.

The predictive engine is really handy for typing in new names and places – the drop down word list isn't as outlandish as some of the ones I've recently seen, and the word that I'm looking for is always near the top of the list. Great for messaging and emailing, I would recommend the Nokia to all.

I’m not sure if you think the same way, but I feel as if all the latest phones seem to specialize in one aspect or another, but none provide a complete set of cutting edge features. Foe instance, some phones may have great cameras as their highlight, others may have navigational abilities to boast of, but it is difficult to find a good phone, which has all the features and is not too expensive.
I have reason to believe that the 8208 is going to be just the kind of mobile phone I have been waiting for. It is due to be released by the end of the first quarter in 2009 and I can’t wait to find out if Nokia 8208 is indeed the phone of my dreams.
The Nokia 8208 has all the features you would want from a phone and more. It has a 3.0 Mp camera and 6x digital zoom with 2.2″ display screen and 240×320 screen resolution, which I think is great for a phone and exactly what I need. The phone will also have features like Bluetooth connectivity and headset to make it easier to access new information.
What makes Press images different from other phones in the market is its expected ability to play over 20 hours of music. This is unheard of in mobile phone technology and is likely to be a huge hit among music lovers. People who love travelling will appreciate its 11 hours stand by time and 4 hours of talk time. For people who love both travelling and music, the 8 GB add-on memory card of the Nokia will come as a boon allowing them to carry a large collection of music, videos and pictures with them, wherever they go.

The 6720 Classic
is designed as a classic candybar phone, except that it is slightly curved to fit perfectly into your hand, and then perfectly into your face – that's what I call human technology. I love that it has a new noise cancellation feature, which means that I would be able to use the phone on a busy street, or outside a night-club or a concert, without having to strain my ears and scream my lungs out. I think most phone companies are so busy trying to fit their products with as many features and applications as possible, that they forget that in the end, a phone is a phone, and if you can't have a decent conversation, then all the other features are superfluous. I have always trusted Nokia to come up with the best phone possible, and I don't think they will let me down with theNokia.

The Nokia 6720 Classic has some impressive specs when it comes to call features – Any key answer, automatic redial, enhanced voice dialling, fixed dialling number support, side volume keys, conference calling with up to 6 participants, video calling, and automatic answer with headset or car kit. I love phones that act like phones. Simply love them.

The 6720 Classic
has some pretty cool features, over and above from the noise cancellation that I just mentioned. It has GPS and global roaming capabilities, a great camera, and gives you access to high speed internet.

Nokia 5630 XpressMusic – Camera 2 Music 2 Gaming

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is an all round phone – smart (as they like to call phones these days) good looking, and eager to please – I think I might have found my true love. The phone stores up to 3000 songs , has bass boost options, and even has N-Gage gaming. That's two strikes already. What a pitch – and here's the cinch – a great camera, with S60 interface, HSUPA connectivity for 2mbps uploads – that's 3 strikes, I'm out, I'm floored, I can't say anything more, I have to have this phone.

The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic
Camera is not very high resolution – 3.2 mega pixels, but still seems to take pretty good pictures. It has a 4x zoom, which is pretty good for this tiny little phone, a dual LED flash, and also records very decent video. It can instantly connect to Flickr, Ovi, which means that photos and videos can be shared easily. The 2mbps speed won't hurt, I'm sure.

I would call the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic a complete entertainment experience. Actually, I read that somewhere else, online, but let's just say that I agree. It has everything that makes those boring hours spent doing nothing at my office fly by in an instant. I could probably spend hours going through the functions, playing games, organizing my music, taking pictures of myself pretending to look busy and important.

I have to say though, the official page is a great phone for work too – with all the functionality of a smart phone, great internet connectivity, an easy interface with quick access to contacts, messaging and email, USB charging facility, which is extremely important when I'm on the go, bluetooth and WLAN supported. I think I'm sold on the phone already. Nokia is reliable and I trust them to give me a good phone – I would take this one over any other in the market right now. Can't wait for the Nokia mobiles to be released.

Nokia have a massive range of handsets out at the moment and they range in both technical features and price. Of course we have the top of the range handsets like the Nokia N97, the first real iphone contender. It comes complete with a touch screen and a qwerty keyboard, so you could argue that this is much more of a business centric mobile phone. The only issue is that the N97 will not be out for a month or so yet, so if you are looking for a handset that is available now, perhaps try the Nokia 5800, this mobile phone comes with Nokia's "comes with music service" that is proving incredibly popular with the younger generation. The Nokia 5800 is Nokia's first ever touch screen mobile phone, there were rumours that it took Nokia a lot longer than first thought to get all their applications working correctly with the touch screen interface that they had designed. If you are looking for some cheaper mobile phone deals, then perhaps consider one of the 6 series handsets that are available. The brand new Nokia 7070 PAYG is probably one of the most basic phones ever to have been released this year. The phone was released in August of 2008 and offers very few features indeed but a very stylish design which is unique and powerful. It’s a fashion phone and definitely has a great style factor to it. I’ve also read a Nokia 7070 review which seemed to suggest that this phone is the type of phone that caters to the people who don’t want any bells and whistles and simply want a phone to be just that.
I’ve also seen a lot of Nokia 7070 Pay as you go deals and you can definitely get the Nokia 7070 on contract is free on most networks and that’s always a good thing to see. I’ve also noticed that as we get closer to Christmas, mobile deals are getting better and better and you should be able to easily get hold of the phone you’ve been looking for at a great price. I’ve got to say I think this phone is great because it offers a stylish handset to people who don’t want all the fancy features of other phones on today’s mobile phone market.
Overall, the Nokia 7070 Prism is a great phone and although it has literally no features it is still a phone that I’d say is worth purchasing. At under £40 on PAYG you can’t really complain and I think it’ll do well with basic users. I’ve seen a recent Nokia 6600 Slide review and it seemed rather positive and seemed to indicate that this phone is as good as it looks. I’ve only seen one negative point about this phone and that is the battery life which is said to be average.

The new Nokia N96 is a smart phone from Nokia which is designed as the upgrade from the N95. The N96 is very similar to the N95 and actually offers exactly the same specs except that the phone has a massive 16GB of internal memory rather than the old 4 or 8GB. There are a couple of differences, including larger memory and the GPS system allowing the download of free maps. The phone also has a new style to it and is much smoother and curvier than the N95. Personally I prefer the design of the N96 when compared to the predecessor. The keypad is also an improvement and isn’t as hard to use as on the N95.
I’ve seen a lot of Nokia N96 deals available which make this phone a little more affordable for people on a budget but it is still a lot more expensive than the N95 and I’m not really sure why. The phone has a good set of features including WiFi and GPS but the phone’s software doesn’t seem to be able to handle all that Nokia have put on here and that has been a problem for the N series for a long time.
The Nokia N95 is a good phone and has a good range of features but because of this software problem I can’t seem to get on with this phone at all. The design of the phone is also a problem because people have been reporting that the handset keypad is a little too small to get to grips with. There have been a lot of Nokia N95 8gb reviews which seem to agree that the phone could do with a better keypad and that the software is a problem, yet again. The recently launched Nokia N95 is a new smart phone from Nokia which offers a good range of features. However, I’m not a huge fan of N series phones and I think that the software may become a problem again like with all the other N series phones. I’ve read a lot of Nokia N95 reviews and people are having the same fears and concerns. A few people have reported software slow downs and it’s never going to be 100% solid in terms of software so for that reason I can’t really highly recommend this phone.
Unfortunately, Nokia don’t seem to be able to get their N series phones right and the Nokia N95 contract phone is a wasted phone on the poor software they use. The phone has a great range of features but it just isn’t up to scratch and has sticky menu problems as well as freezes and crashes. As usual for Nokia this will mean a lot of people will shy away from the N95 and from what I’ve seen of the features of this phone that is a real shame. The phone has some really great features such as GPS, WiFi and even a 5 mega pixel camera but unfortunately the software issues are a major problem for a lot of people.
The Nokia N95 deals that are available are very good and this is unusual for a brand new smart phone. The features inside this phone by far exceed anything we’ve seen previously and I have to say that I actually really like the Nokia N95 in terms of its features.
Unfortunately, I won’t be buying the Nokia N95 though due to the keypad being poorly designed and I’m not a fan of phones where the software can become a problem, but that’s just my opinion.

The brand new Nokia N79 is about to be released and I have to say I’m very impressed with this phone. The phone has a huge range of features including a 5 mega pixel camera with a load of features jam packed into it. The phone also has high speed internet, it is Quad Band and it’ll also be able to perform imaging and media tasks easily. The phone will also have a media player which means you can listen to music and watch videos while you’re out and about with this phone. I also really like the design of this phone which is unusual for a Nokia.
I’ve read several Nokia N79 reviews and almost all of them have been positive about this phone. As it is yet to be released I’m sure that someone will find something wrong with it but I doubt it’ll be a major design flaw. So far, people who have used a review copy of this phone have had nothing bad to say about it which is always a good sign. The phone is equipped with high quality features and is a smart phone so will perform some pretty incredible tasks I’m sure.
Overall, this phone has a great set of features and I think that the Nokia N79 deals which will be available after the release will be very good. I really do like the Nokia N79 contract phone and it appears as though it’ll do very well in terms of sales. My only reservation is the software. Hopefully it won’t have issues like the N70 or N73. We’ll just have to wait and see I guess. However, it has everything you could need from a smart phone and is a good competitor for Samsung and Sony Ericsson but we’ll see who wins the battle of the smart phone after it’s released.

There is an article here that talks about Nokia's UI not being up to Apple's as far as toich screens go. To be honest, this was to be expected as Apple specialises in creating brilliant user interfaces. It was a bit of a shock that they were actually so far behind, but I'm sure that they can catch up.
